SDPA'S OFFICERS-2008

President
Treva A. Cutts
Mission Statement
As President it is my duty support the goals of SDPA as decided by its Board of Directors and serve as SDPA's main point of contact for the San Diego legal community. I accomplish this by presiding over all Board meeting and attending significant legal functions on SDPA's behalf. It is extremely important for me be cognizant of the issues facing our membership. Therefore, I encourage all members to contact me from time-to-time with your feedback about how we're doing or how you believe we can better serve you.

Treva began working in the legal field as a receptionist in December 1985. From August 1986, she worked as a paralegal for Martin P. Elwood. Since November 2002, Treva has worked for Laura H. Miller, family law specialist. She has enjoyed being a 2006 SDPA board member and hopes to be able to continue helping SDPA grow though 2008.

Vice President of Programs and Education
Darlene McLellan

Mission Statement
As Vice President, it is my responsibility to perform the duties of the President in her absence. More regularly, I assist the President with the day-to-day conduct of SDPA business and with overseeing the various committees. The position of Vice President is an excellent stepping-stone for members interested in transitioning into the presidential role.

Darlene's legal career began in January 1986 with the County of San Diego and subsequently Superior Court.  In 1990, she commenced work in the private sector, obtaining employment during her career with two major firms and two sole attorneys.   At this time, Darlene is working for a family law firm. She is very involved in the legal community and serve as a director on Southwestern College Paralegal’s Program Advisory Board.    For the 2007 year, she served as SDPA’s Programs and Education Chair.   Her main goal for the 2008 term is to promote and provide education and continuing education in every legal area.  Darlene especially want to insure avenues for legal professionals to satisfy B&P § 6450 MCLE requirements.

Executive Vice President of Marketing
Kristine Custodio

Mission Statement
As Executive Vice President, it is my responsibility to perform the duties of the President in her absence. More regularly, I assist the President with the day-to-day conduct of SDPA business and with overseeing the various committees. The position of Executive Vice President is an excellent stepping-stone for members interested in transitioning into the presidential role.

Kristine Custodio is a paralegal for Butterfield Schechter LLP specializing in ERISA/employee benefits law, business law and civil litigation.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development from California State University at Long Beach where she was on the Dean’s Honor List.  She completed her paralegal studies at UCSD in 2004 and became a Certified Paralegal in 2006.  She is a Notary Public.  She has also obtained her Human Resource Management certificate from UCSD and serves as an administrator for an adult residential facility for developmentally disabled adults.  Kristine is also the chair of SDPA’s school liaison committee.

Treasurer
Nancy Huebner, CP


Mission Statement
SDPA's Treasurer is responsible for the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports for SDPA's board. Duties also include the preparation of the annual budget, forecasted profit and loss statements, as well as advising the board as needed on financial matters.

Nancy currently works for Rosner & Mansfield, LLP, a consumer litigation firm specializing in automotive and class action consumer protection litigation, as a paralegal and IT manager. Her legal career began back in 1988, when she worked as a legal assistant and research aid for a Personal Injury firm in Riverside while attending college. After deciding a career in law was not what she wanted, she worked as a grants administrator, cost accountant and network engineer until about 5 years ago, when she finally decided that she enjoyed working in law after all. Nancy serves as SDPA's Treasurer and Chairs the Pro Bono and Bar Liaison Committees

Secretary
Elizabeth Oakes, CLA


Mission Statement
As Secretary, it is my duty to prepare and distribute the Board agenda for each Board meeting. Once in session, I am responsible for transcribing the Minutes and maintaining the SDPA Minute Book. As the role of Secretary is highly crucial, it is important for the Secretary to be a deft writer with excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
